Mt Ida Biodiversity Monitoring
Data for the biodiversity monitoring system for assessing the impact of seasonal sheep grazing on the indigenous populations, species, communities and ecosystems in the Mt Ida Conservation Area.
The monitoring programme was established in 2012 by Landcare Research in conjunction with Mt Ida Syndicate Pastoral Occupation Lease and the Department of Conservation and runs for fifteen years, with monitoring every five years.
The three objectives of the project are to:
- Monitor major biomes using a combination of photopoints and a grid network of 47 permanent vegetation plots
- Monitor bog and tarn habitats using photopoints
- Population monitoring of threatened species
Data are stored in DataStore with restricted access (level 2).
