Data from "The effects of one-off aerial 1080 possum-control operations on common forest birds in the South Island, New Zealand"

Overview

1080 was applied to two sites in 2012, one on the East Coast of the South Island and the other on the West Coast. Each site had a paired no-1080 site nearby. Birds and pest mammal species were monitored prior to the 1080 application (winter 2012) and for three summers thereafter (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15).

Bird monitoring

Birds were monitored using five minute bird counts.

Mammal monitoring

Pest mammal species were monitored using chew cards left out over three nights.
