Data from naturally established tree seedlings sampled from fenced and unfenced areas within alluvial and marine terraces at Waitutu Forest, New Zealand. Seedlings were first sampled in January-April 2002 by Dr D. Wilson and re-surveyed in July 2007 by Chris Morse, Dr. Peter Bellingham and Dr. Sarah Richardson.
